Phaseolus vulgaris
50 seeds
Maturity: 60 days

Certified organic seed grown by Horton Nash at 6,300 feet in Paonia, CO.

Discovered as a sport of 'Sequoia' in the garden of Salt Spring Seeds owner, Dan Jason, by his then apprentice, Tanya, over 15 years ago and has been growing true to type ever since. Sort of a Romano-type, somewhat flat and a bit wider than the other beans we offer, Tanya's Pink Pod has an indescribable iridescent pink sheen. They are green but they are pink but they shine. Tasty pods are 5-8" growing on semi-climbing bush habits that reach 18-24" when under cover.

Just like purple beans, the pink will leave when cooked. Also can be used as a tasty dry bean if you can bring them to full maturity at around 100 days. As with all our beans, we now recommend growing them under cover for extra protection to ensure quality yields.

Legumes need to be inoculated to fix nitrogen and have viable yields. If you haven't inoculated your seeds before and/or haven't grown legumes in the soil you'll be growing them in this year, we recommend you use this product

FROM THE FARMERS

Ok, these are obviously very special but they are particularly special to us. We met on Salt Spring Island in the park one day while Leah was running a small market garden there and Nick was doing a natural building apprenticeship. Salt Spring Seeds was our first introduction to small scale regional seed producers and Foundroot was completely inspired by them. We wanted to be the "Salt Spring Seeds" of the north. Right around the time Tanya was discovering this cool bean, we were falling in love with seeds and each other. Awwww. The beans are really nice too.
