Cucumis sativus
25 seeds
Maturity: 60 days

Mini White's name says it all. These dwarf fruited white cucumbers were the champions of our 2023 trial. We couldn't keep up with the hundreds of pounds of cucumbers we (accidently) grew and Mini White was very forgiving. When they got too big and the skin turned yellow and a little hard, they didn't get bitter at all. We munched them straight out of the garden all summer long and they kept producing until the rainy end.

Harvest white, lightly spined fruit at at 3 inches long for perfect texture and flavor. Although other listings will claim theses are compact plants with 3 foot vines, these were not compact at all in our northern hoop house, climbing 4-6' up the trellis. Mini White are like our Ronde de Nice in that they go from flower to harvest rapidly due to their dwarf size. Blink and they are ready, hustle to keep up.

Open-pollinated cucumber needs to be hand pollinated if grown without insects present such as inside a hoop house or greenhouse.

FROM THE FARMERS

We got really serious about pickles this year and Leah's goal was to mimic the sour pickles that came out of the big buckets at the Jewish delis on the east coast of her childhood. Fermenting these whole was the greatest success to keep the pickles firm and their mild flavor made them everyone's favorite. Snip the ends of your cukes to prevent the enzymes from making it bitter over time. A roaring pickle success.

We are really struggling to find quality open-pollinated cucumber varieties that have clean strains, work for our climate, and we can purchase in enough quantity for sale. We were pretty unimpressed with a lot of what we trialed. We are grateful to have these this year but no promises moving forward. Buy them now and save your seeds until we can save them for you.
